Everything You Need To Know About Mold And Mold Removal

The hype around mold as died gradually over a past few years. But the concerns still remain. A mold infestation has the potential to ruin your house and take a toll on your health. Thus, you need to know when your house needs mold inspections, and when you should go for mold removal and mold remediation. You must know here that there is no practical way of mold removal completely. However, it can be prevented and remediated. Almost every house develops mold. You need to identify it to take proper measures.

If you can see the mold, you do not need to get mold inspections. Instead, you should hire the services of a mold removal company. However, if you cannot see the mold but are experiencing these things, then get an inspection.

Here are a few things you need to know about mold removal.

  1. Moisture Is the Culprit

As mentioned earlier, there is no practical way of mold elimination from the indoor environment. All you can do in this regard is to control moisture. Reduce indoor humidity to 30-60% to get rid of mold. You can reduce humidity by these steps,

  • Enhance ventilation
  • Increase the use of exhaust fans when cooking, cleaning or dishwashing
  • Use de-humidifiers and air conditioners
  • Vent mold producing sources like dryers etc. to the outside.
  • Dry and clean the damp furnishing and materials within 24-48 hours to prevent the growth of mold.
  1. Mold Removal Needs Care and Hard Work

You can remove the mold on surface by scrubbing especially in decks and bathrooms with a mold cleaner solution but if you know where the mold is. Usually mold grows and spreads in areas that you do not see until the spot emerge on surface. If you want to prevent the spotting, clean the surface where you feel a mushy drywall or damp smell.

  1. You Need to Be Careful After Mold Removal

Cleaning after mold removal is necessary, otherwise it may become a source of another mold infestation. First vacuum the debris as a preliminary cleanup. Then, clean the vacuum and dry it after disposing of the debris from the filter and washing out the attachments, hose and the tank with the mole removal solution.

Now clean the moldy areas by scrubbing the surface with a water and bleach solution. It will kill the mold. Use a soft brush and keep scrubbing until the mold disappears completely. After scrubbing, leave the solution to sit for a while so that it penetrates the surface and gets dried.

You must remember one thing that you have to wipe off the surface. Never rinse it. Also, you can scrub the concrete with automatic dishwasher detergent. After cleaning, use dehumidifiers and fans to dry the newly-cleaned areas. Keep the process going for three days and then smell the areas to check if the mold has been completely cleaned.
